Here's Another Business Update

Friday, October 30, 2009

I will be applying for a business license before the end of the year! I met a new photographer friend here at school through Cadre a few weeks ago. Her name is Mandie and she is one of the sweetest girls ever plus she loves Jesus! She recently started her own photograph business as well and the other day, we got together and talked some business, life, photography, school, etc. It was sweet. You can check out her stuff here: http://www.sindisiwephotography.com/

Also in a few weeks, I'm going to be getting a 1-on-1 learning session with the infamous Jamie Delaine. Hopefully, actually I know, she'll be able to give me some helpful advice as I legitimize my business. Another exciting thing is that one of my friends here at SPU, Eric, agreed to put together a logo for me. He's a Senior here and majoring in Visual Communications and his stuff is awesome.

My one major midterm was today. After I took it, I didn't do anything for the rest of the day school/business related. But in the next week, I'll try to blog the last four Senior sessions I had last weekend so keep checking back. :)

Capital High School Homecoming | Portraits

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I first met Shelby this past July volunteering at Summer Hummer (which, by the way, is my FAVORITE part of summer). I met her through Nghia, who I've known pretty much my whole life. I love Shelby and the fact that she is always happy. She loves Jesus and it's apparent that He is active in her life. Love love love it. She asked me a few weeks ago whether or not I would take some quick portraits of her and her group last Saturday for their Homecoming and I was more than happy to do it! We took these at the Lacey Community Center where there was a little forest of these beautiful trees. Love it. Hope you kids had a great time at the dance!

Felisha | Senior Portraits

| |

Felisha saw Michelle's and Cathy's senior portraits off of her Myspace and then checked out my website. She liked my stuff so gave me a call and we set up a date. We took these pretty late in the game. We were racing against the light but I love the ones we took by the water especially. Her boyfriend, Daniel, came along and we took a few shots with him also. We took these at Tolmie State Park and before this, I had never even heard of the park so thanks to Felisha for introducing me to a new spot! I love Felisha's orange Converse, just an FYI ;)

Zoe | Senior Portraits

| |

I had the opportunity to shoot Zoe two weekends ago. She is a dancer and we met downtown at her dance studio along with her friend, Kate. We took a few shots outside of the studio, she made a quick change, and then we headed off into town. Downtown Olympia is always interesting. We stopped at this wall that had some sweet painted tiles and there was a homeless lady across from us and when we were leaving, she was yelling at us, "GO! Just Go!" It was so creepy. Ha. Zoe is definitely so photogenic so it was not hard to photograph her at all. I love these!

Kenzi | Senior Portraits

Monday, October 26, 2009

Kenzi is a Senior at Black Hills' this year. I met her and her mom downtown a few weeks ago and we got some exercise walking the streets of Olympia. Kenzi wanted more solid backgrounds with her photos so we avoided all the graffiti walls and searched for a simpler look. I like that she knew what she wanted- it makes my job a little easier. Having her mom come along was great and I enjoyed her company as she assisted holding the reflector. Kenzi plans to get into nursing after graduation which is awesome. Wish you the best!

I love the green, blue and yellow in this

Thank You Red Slippers Photography Seniors! | {Preview} Portraits

Sunday, October 25, 2009

This weekend was my last weekend of doing senior portraits for the Fall season. Even though it was a great first run of this little business of mine, I feel a huge relief. I might be wrong, but I've shot 39 (give or take) Seniors and I am so incredibly grateful to each and every single one of them. Thank you for trusting me with your senior portraits. It's an exciting time and when I was a Senior, I definitely looked forward to getting mine done. I feel so honored that you chose me as your Senior portrait photographer.

On Saturday, (praise Jesus) no rain fell. It was cold but dry. By late morning, the sun had come out! I took portraits of two new Seniors, Kristina and Kamron, and then I had a second session with Andra and Bailey. Kamron's girlfriend, Kenzi, came along for his session as well. I took her portraits the weekend before (but have yet to blog them so keep checking back!). After the Senior sessions, I was able to take some Homecoming portraits for some kids from Capital High School. Nghia has been a lifetime friend and I met Shelby this past summer volunteering at Summer Hummer. I met them and their friends at the Lacey Community Center where there was a little forest of these trees that I absolutely loved.

Enjoy these previews guys! I really appreciate your patience with the rest of them as I am studying for midterms this week. :)

Jessica, Julie, Rachel and Yun | Senior Portraits

| |

Four friends. Jessica is the only one from Black Hills and Julie, Rachel and Yun are all from Northwest Christian High School. They are the first Seniors I've had from that school. They wanted some Senior portraits done so the five of us spent about three hours together two weekends ago on a rainy Saturday. We started off with some inside portraits (I don't do much of these just an FYI- they're not my specialty) and then we headed off to the Capitol. It was a cold day and raining on and off... but we made it happen. I really enjoyed my time with these kids- we got along really well. Good luck with your Senior years!
