Black Hills' HS Prom 2010 | Portraits

My Senior prom was such a fun experience and I had the absolute pleasure of photographing some of my old (and new!) friends a few weeks ago as they all headed off to their Junior/Senior prom! I photographed about 20 couples that day I think and it was a day full of back to back sessions. Insane! But oh so fun. These are just a few of my favorite frames... I took too many, but hey, there's nothing wrong with that!

North Thurston Homecoming | Portraits

Yesterday, I was a madwoman shooting four sessions and in-between running home to unload cards and grab some food. On top of that, I had just acquired a cold.... BUT despite all of that, I got some rad sessions in.

Melissa, one of the girls from my youth group, asked me a bit ago to take some portraits of her and her friends on Homecoming day and I was more than happy to oblige. These kids were looking sharp, I dare say. I love Homecoming and all the fun that goes with it!

Ellie | Senior Portraits

Ellie definitely impressed me when she opted to go through with her appointment this morning despite the fact that she suddenly felt sick this morning with a sore throat and runny nose. By the time we met up though, she was feeling a lot better and if she hadn't said anything, I would never have guessed that she was not feeling well. She was literally all smiles and giggles the whole time we were shooting. My kinda girl. She told me she was nervous but girl, you were awesome! Her sister Caitlin tagged along and the three of us had fun. They told me they had practiced her smiles before. There was a Smile 1 and a Smile 2. Perfect! I should do that with all my Seniors!

I got to know Ellie a bit my senior year when I joined Key Club. Ellie is a Senior this year at Black Hills and I'm pretty positive she's still involved with Key Club, despite the fact that she's doing full-time Running Start. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to take your senior portraits! :) You were fantastical.

Gabriella | Senior Portraits

I first met Gabriella when I took Krazy 8 photos back in early August. I love her outfits- they're the cutest ever. Her sister Mariah tagged along and made sure her sister was looking great! That was fun- towards the end, her sister joined in as well. We spent half of the session walking around downtown and then for the second half, we met at the Japanese Garden for a new location and outfit change!

Christine + Alisah | Portraits

Okay, so I'm behind on blogging these photos. Shoot me. (Pun intended) Anyway, I asked Christine a big ago if she and her sister Alisah would be willing to model for me. I wanted some practice/shots of siblings for my portfolio. I've never been to the Japanese Garden we have here in Olympia. Can you believe that? Almost 20 years of being in Olympia and I had never been there and I had only recently heard about it... I decided to scope it out the night before to see if it'd be a cool location to shoot. It was pretty small and the garden could've used some more tending to, but there were some beautiful spots in there including this small forest of bamboo trees... it was a fun shoot. I had along with me my 11- year-old brother and 12-year-old brother 'cause I had to babysit them as well as my 16-year-old cousin. They served as my 'assistants'. Thanks for modeling for me Christine and Alisah! Love you both.

I love how perfectly their shoes tell someone how different the two are from one another.
