Marci & the Girls | Portraits

Who remembers Mandie?! Everyone should be raising their hands, because I've mentioned her plenty a-times in my blogs ;) Mandie is a wonderful friend through school as well as a crazy, talented photographer. I've had the privilege of having her as a second-shooter and in a few weeks, I'll be doing the same for her. Back in the Fall, she mentioned wanting some family portraits done and a few weeks ago, we finally made it happen.

I really had a great time photographing her mom and sisters. They're a fun, sassy bunch of ladies. They had these great polka-dotted dresses for the second half of our session and they looked b-e-a-utiful, don't you think? Mandie's oldest sister, Stephanie, is getting married in a few weeks so these girls will be in front of my camera again soon :)

Lauren Class of '11 | Portraits

The first time I ever met Lauren was when I picked her up for her Senior Rep session. We both wanted some variety in her portraits so we decided to venture off into the historic area of Tacoma. I knew I liked this girl from the moment I read her survey form. Lauren has a very positive and fun personality and conversation between the two of us was so easy! I am honored to have Lauren as a Senior rep this upcoming year. We had so many fun shots- this was easily one of my favorite sessions. Also, isn't this girl's style fantastic? Love it!

Dom Family | Portraits

This was my last session this past weekend. I drove up to Pt. Defiance Park and met Co Dzung (also known as June) and Chu Hien as well as their almost- 2- year-old daughter, Kennedy for some quick family portraits. I've known of Co Dzung for awhile and I actually sang a Vietnamese duet with one of my good friends at her wedding reception a couple of years back. (No, I don't remember the words- we were kind of forced to do it.) Looking back, I feel honored to have had that privilege. It was actually pretty fun.

Chu Hien will be leaving for Iraq once again in the coming week so please keep him in your prayers. It was pretty cold on Sunday and it took Kennedy a little bit of warming up because she had just woken up from a nap. Doesn't she have the biggest eyes ever? She is adorable. She pretty much directed the whole portrait session to be honest. We went wherever she pointed to and stopped doing things when she became whiny.

I tried some different things with this photo, including curves, and adding some texture.

Kennedy was sitting with her parents here and then left to go down the path. She waited for her parents to follow her, but they didn't so she ended up coming back. So cute!

Outfit change... our time ran out and she would only focus with Goldfish snacks.

Han | Senior Portraits

I remember when Han was younger. I never actually knew her- only saw her in the Tacoma Youth Group or playing piano for the church. She has grown up to be a gorgeous lady, don't you think? I had a blast hanging out with her, Thanh and their friend Esther. Han went along with Thanh when I took her senior portraits last week and then after I finished, Han said she wanted to get her portraits done by me as well! I was stoked. We met at Anthony's by Tacoma's waterfront but Han wanted more of an urban feel. So we headed to the historic area of Tacoma... to be honest, I really had no idea where I was going but we ended up finding some really beautiful spots.

Danielle | Senior Portraits

Danielle is a friend of Kyle's, who I photographed a few weeks back. The two of them have been friends for a long time and she told me that they'll even be walking together for graduation! I was so excited when her mom Carmen called to book a session through me and even more excited that she's from Stadium. We had to get the epic shot in front of the school so we started out there and then headed to Owen Beach at Pt. Defiance Zoo for a new location and outfit change.

Danielle told me that she used to model and it definitely showed- she was so good at giving me the 'serious' face and the transition from one to the next was fast! It was awesome. I had a blast shooting her and driving to the second location (got to see more of scenic Tacoma). I was also happy to meet her mom Carmen finally. Thanks for a great session and I hope you enjoy your portraits! :)
